Hello Y’all. I know this has been a really controversial issue, and i just wanted to put my opinion out there.
Creating a working Economy
so I start my piece off with Bobux because they have been the main party advocating for a totally integrated economy. But I find lots of flaws with their ideas on the economy, as I usually agree with reforming VoD, which they are excellent at Their former party leader or co-party leader of their predecessor NPF, Clover, said she had researched the best economy bot or the best way to implement an economy. And her conclusion? An economy was too confusing and too difficult to manage with the current system of things, i.e., things being in discord. In real life, we need food, shelter, and other things. But not in discord, so the idea of having an economy is fundamentally flawed, because we cannot mimic real life.
Look to Simdem and see how “active” their economy is. There is little in the way of trade, and the government just prints money to pay its employees. To be fair, I haven’t been on SimDem in a hot second, but I can’t imagine much has changed. This is almost on all servers with economies; they have them for a hot second, and then they ignore them. That’s why VoD got rid of its economy in the first place: it was inactive. And what reassurance have proponents of an economy given? Well, I can’t see them pointing to other servers and their success, or promising a concrete plan on how to keep an active economy without the levers that nature and real governments have.
Democratic process:
It is only ethical that if we have an economy, it receives assent from each person who it shall affect. While a volunteer economy system will only affect the people who choose to partake. An economy that requires everyone to participate must receive consent from every active member of the server. As it will drastically change the server in several respects so it should hold all our consent.
